SAN FRANCISCO -- The National League West pennant race officially begins tonight when the Atlanta Braves and Giants meet for the first time this season to start a four-game series at Candlestick Park.
These two teams are long-and-away the best teams in this league, so whichever squad can win the season series will have the advantage in the razor thin division race.
The Braves' start to the season has been less-than-ideal. They've had two series losses to the Cubs, and have amassed just three home runs all season (13th in the NL). Outfielder David Justice (pictured right) with Halle Berry has been a bright spot: .368 average, 3 home runs, 9 runs batted in. Years later it would emerge that David Justice used to beat the shit out the prized actress on a daily basis. You can read about that here:
